
Minerals of the kaolinite group are distinguished from other clay or non-clay minerals by their high contents of Al2O3, high Al / Si ratio, relatively high Lost of Ignition (LOI), associated with the dehydroxylation process of the clay minerals, and low alkali content, since these elements are normally eliminated during primary kaolinitization process.
