The planet needs a new cement

It is estimated that 8% of global CO2 emissions come from cement production. Some sources even state that up to ten percent of the most important greenhouse gases are released during the manufacturing process of said material.

“Hands on” Workshop in Sta. Clara

It was a magnificent event with the participation of some 40 construction professionals from different countries, organizations, universities, public and private companies. The importance of this type of event is to highlight the alternatives that the world has to reduce and mitigate the effects of climate change caused by CO2 emissions.

Low carbon cement (LC3) technology resource centre

LC3 Technology Resource Centre (LC3-TRC) has been established in Cuba to act as interface between industry an academy for a swift introduction of the new developments in the area of LC3 in the Latin American Region.

New LC3 Cement mixture developed

Swiss, Indian and Cuban researchers have come together to develop limestone calcined clay cement (LC3), wich can help reduce the carbon dioxide emissions of the cement by almost 30%.
