In Egypt, Conventions number 27 on climente change has started.  The progress since number 26 is minimal, declarations are not followed up and the climate changes progresses.  There ar few efficient measures that can be applied fast, the LC3 technology to lower the CO2 output in cement production is the most promising.

LC3 is a new type of cement that is based on a blend of limestone and calcined clay.  LC3 can reduce co2 emissions by up to 40% is made using limestone and low-grade clays which are available in abundant quantities, is a cost effective and does not require capital intensive modifications to existing cement plants.

At Ecosur we strive to make LC3 a standard and mainstream general-use cement in the global cement market. We have been researching and testing for mor than 30 years to reduce the enviromental damage associated to the cement production.  Now we are at the stage of commercial production and assist more cement companies to change their production.

With funding from th Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation through its Global Programme in Climate Change, we have been able to bring the idea of the LC3-technology from the labs in Cuba, Switzerland and India to all parts of the world.  Over the past three years the outreach to cement producers has grown exponentially.

At present some 40 companies in 25 countries are interested in LC3, in two countries commercial production is established.  In 2021 already some 220,000 tons of LC3 have been save that way, and it will be much more in 2022.
